Better-for-you snacks taste great with less of what you’re trying to avoid like calories, sugar, unhealthy fats and sodium, e.g. baked chips or pretzels.

These are not necessarily “good for you” since they don’t have much positive nutritional value, but are better than more indulgent choices.

Better-for-you snacks have:

  • ≤ 200 calories
  • ≤ 10% calories from saturated fat
  • ≤ 20 grams sugar
  • ≤ 230 milligrams sodium
  • –  Zero grams trans fat

Good-for-you

Good-for-you snacks contain ingredients with nutritional benefits like nuts or dried fruit, and less of what you’re trying to avoid like calories, sugar, unhealthy fats and sodium.

Good-for-you snacks include:

  • –  At least 3 gm fiber, 5 gm protein, >10% daily value for potassium, Vitamin D, calcium or iron
  • –  Ingredients with nutritional benefits like nuts or dried fruit, and
  • –  Less of what you’re trying to avoid like calories, sugar, unhealthy fats and sodium already noted above for better-for you snacks.

Better Beverages

Better Beverages have either:

  • –  0 calories
  • –  Lower calories (≤40)
  • ≤ 100 calories
  • –  100% fruit juice
  • –  Low or no fat milk
